Octopus

Cette fois-ci je me suis inscrite et je m'y suis tenue.
D'abord intriguée par ce thème, la pieuvre, je me suis prise au jeu.
En cherchant , j'ai trouvé toutes sortes de documents fascinants sur elle.
Quant à traduire cela en création, ce n'était pas encore au rendez-vous.
J'ai commencé simplement en cherchant dans ma collection et j'ai trouvé, peu mais j'ai trouvé des composants "pieuvre":

This time I signed in and here I am for the reveal.
I was first intrigued by this Art Elements Octopus theme but I soon found out these animals were fascinating. However, turning the information into creation was the challenge.
I started quite simply by going through my stash to find some octopus components. I found some,  few but some:

Un début. J'avais envie d'un peu plus, alors j'ai pensé feutrage à l'aiguille, mais le temps de m'y remettre... une autre fois. Puis j'ai pensé aux tentacules, et dans les perles , j ai trouvé de quoi faire  un pendentif, que je n'ai pas encore monté en collier mais presque,

That was a start, but I wanted something more so I thought about needle felting, but it has been such a long time since  I did some that I dismissed it quite quickly.

Then I thought "tentacles", and I had quite a few beads that fit my ideas so I started this pendant which will very soon be turned into a necklace,

J'ai trouvé un modèle chez NWBCJewelry que j'ai tissé et transformé en collier amulette. 

because I chose to weave beads.

I found a pattern at NWBCJewelry which I turned into an amulet bag necklace.

Bead in the New Year

Je suis paressseuse aujourd'hui, je n'ai pas envie de traduire le titre! C'est Allegory Gallery qui propose de commencer l'année, le mois de janvier précisement, en perles. Tous les jours un thème pour créer quelque chose.
Pourquoi ne pas essayer, pas le temps de se lancer dans de grands projets, mais le nez dans les perles un petit peu chaque jour.
Effectivement, les idées reviennent, par contre les vacances sont finies, donc je vais essayer de continuer, peut-être en trichant un peu.
Et voilà un petit récapitulatif de ce que j'ai fait depuis le 1er Janvier.

Here is a recap of what I did for the Allegory Bead in the year challenge, every day a new prompt and I thought that would be a great way to start the year. This way I might get back into beads as I've tried for a year now. No big projects but a little playing around every day or so. 
Christmas break is over, so it will be even more challenging to keep on, but I'll try my best.

Art Elements Star-Themed Challenge

En début de mois, je me suis inscrite au défi mensuel du site Art Elements. Les étoiles, un joli thème de saison.
J'ai fait le tour de mes perles étoiles et je me suis empêchée de de me lancer dans de grands projets tissés ou brodés, j'en ai déjà plusieurs en cours que je n'arrive pas à finir.
Les boucles d'oreilles, rien de mieux pour se remettre en selle.
Voici les premières,

Early in the month I decided to take part in the November Art Elements challenge, the theme was lovely and seasonal:  stars.
I decided not to start any ambitious embroidery or weaving projects as I already have a few started but don't see much progress.
Earrings, that's what I needed to get back to it.
Here are the first ones:

Perles en verre / Glass beads, Glass Bead Art
 Pendants en céramique / Ceramic charm, Scorched Earth

Puis j'ai reçu une commande tout à fait appropriée de chez Golem Studio avec pendentif et perles assorties.
Parfait pour un collier et des boucles d'oreilles.

Then I received an order I had placed at Golem Studio  with matching starry pendant and beads.
What else could I make than a necklace and its matching earrings!

Et enfin avec les restes de cordon de liège et des petites breloques qui traînaient par là, une dernière paire de boucle d'oreille.

Finally I had some left over bits  from the cork cord, so  I paired them with star charms which happened to be there for a last pair of earrings.

August Theme Challenge: Swirls

Troisième défi du mois d'août, celui du blog Art Elements dont le thème était les tourbillons.
Pendant les vacances, alors que nous visitions le Musée National de la Nature et des Sciences j'ai vu ces fossiles.

Third challenge of August, the Art Elements challenge and the theme was Swirls.
During our trip to Japan, we visited the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo and I saw these, nothing speaks to me more of swirls than fossils.

Voilà donc ce vers quoi je me suis tournée en rentrant à Paris pour ce défi.

J'ai pris mes deux dernières ammonites et je les ai brodées très simplement, car elles n'ont  besoin de rien de plus, ajouté quelques franges en chaîne et voilà.

So this is what I went for when I came back home and worked on the challenge. 

I took my last two ammonites and embroidered them very simply to turn them into earrings. They don't need anything more, except maybe some chain fringe.

Hier, j'ai trouvé ces pendentifs en laiton brut, parfaits pour experimenter avec un peu de couleurs et mon premier essai, l'émaillage à froid. 

Turquoise et  tourbillon de cuivre sur laiton.

Yesterday, I found these brass pendants, perfect to experiment with a little coloring and I first tried  cold enameling.

Lisa du blog A Grateful Artist organise des défis à partir de ses kits qui sont toujours très variés et fournis. Ce que j'aime également c'est que ces perles ne sont jamais celles que j'achèterais naturellement et me forcent donc à réfléchir.

Cette fois-ci le thème était "Romance d'été".

Voici les perles et ensuite ce que j'ai réussi à en faire.

Au début, je voulais essayer de tout utiliser, mais comme je le disais hier j'ai été retardé par un essai de boucle d'oreille brodé non concluant.

Lisa  from A Grateful Artist, organizes challenges with her bead kits which are always abundant and diverse, and they always force me out of my comfort zone.
This time, it was all about Summer Romance.
So first, the beads and then what I managed to make with them.
Initially, I wanted to challenge myself even more by using up the beads, but as I mentionned yesterday, I got stuck with some embroidered earring.

J'ai failli oublié que ce mois-ci j'avais moins de temps pour réfléchir et participer au défi mensuel de Art Bead Scene Studio.
Voici donc l'inspiration du mois de Février.

I almost forgot that this month,  I had to be quicker in thinking and participate to the monthly Art Bead Scene Studio challenge.
So here comes the February inspiration.

 Star Lovers,  Warwick Goble, 1910

Bon, pas vraiment mes couleurs, mais j'imagine quelque chose de délicat, fin, aérien. Pas tout à fait mon style non plus.

Donc, je séléctione mes perles et je commence un bracelet version délicat puis j'ajoute des pierres, du métal, des pierres plus grosses. 

Fini la délicatesse, par contre un mélange de matières dans les couleurs de l'oeuvre: lin, métal, pierre, verre, céramique, crystal.

These were not really my colors, but I can see something quite delicate and subtle, not really my style either.

So I pick up my beads and I start a delicate, smallish bracelet, but then I add some stone chips, some metal and some more bigger stones.

That's the end of the delicate version of my bracelet but a great mix of all kinds of materials in the colors of the inspiration: linen, metal, glass, ceramic, stones, crystal.

Je ne sais plus à quand remonte ma dernière participation au défi mensuel du blog Art Bead Scene Studio, mais trop longtemps. Je vous en rappelle le principe, une inspiration artistique et l'obligation d'utiliser au moins une perle d'Art.
Voici donc l'inspiration du mois d'août:

I don't remember when I last participated to the Art Bead Scene Studio monthly challenge but definitely way too long ago.
I remind you quickly what it is all about, every month there is a new piece of art as inspiration and you have to use at least one Art Bead.
So here's  the August inspiration:

Twelve Princesses on the Way to the Dance

J'ai choisi de me concentrer sur le contraste entre la sobriété des lignes de la forêt et la rondeur, les couleurs et l'extravagance des robes des princesses.

J'ai donc choisi une variété de perles de verre aux motifs colorés et aux formes diverses pour rappeler les robes. 

Pour la forêt, j'ai choisi un connecteur en céramique et un épais lien de cuir.

I decided to focus on the contrast between the simple lines of the forest and the round, exuberant and colorful dresses of the princesses.

So I chose a selection of glass beads by various artists in different shapes and colors to represent the dresses and to contrast I chose a big ceramic connector on a thick leather cord.

J'aime vraiment ma selection de perles d'art et quel plaisir de les assembler. 

D'ailleurs, j'ai certaines perles depuis tellement longtemps, qu'il a fallu  que je cherche pour retrouver l'artiste, ou peut-être que c'est parceque j'en ai trop... ou que je ne suis pas assez organisée!

I do like the collection of Art Beads, and I really enjoyed assembling them.
I've had some of the beads for so long that I had to do some research to find who made them, or maybe it is because I have too many... or I'm not organized enough!

French Countryside Blog Hop

Un nouveau défi organisé par Lisa Lodge de A Grateful Artist -  Pine Ridge Treasures avec pour thème la campagne française. Ça tombe bien j'y suis, en Normandie. Enfin j'y étais, je suis maintenant de retour à Paris ou mon accès internet est plus fiable.

 Bien sûr, je n'ai pas de photo des perles envoyées par Lisa. Des couleurs qui me rappellent plutôt la Provence. 

J'a commencé par un bracelet en tissage freeform. Premier essai assez avancé, la perle centrale se casse. Je recommence, j'ai presque terminé la perle centrale, une autre évidemment, se casse également. Il n'y aura pas de troisième essai pour l'instant, et voici ce qu'il reste. 

A new challenge organized by Lisa Lodge from  A Grateful Artist - Pine Ridge Treasures. The theme: French Countryside which was quite appropriate as I am in Normandy, well I was, I am now back in Paris where my internet access is more reliable.

Of course I didn't take any pictures of the beads Lisa sent before. The colors reminded me more of Provence.

I started weaving a freeform bracelet. In the middle of my project, the focal bead broke. I started again and as I was almost finished the focal bead, another one, broke. I won't try a third time, for now. So, here is what is left of it with thread in place of the bead.

Je ne pouvais pas en rester là alors j'ai vite fait une paire de boucles d'oreilles.

I couldn't leave it to that so I tried a quick pair of earrings.

Firefly Design Studio Challenge

Un nouveau défi, cette fois-ci organisé par Firefly Design Studio. Pour participer j'ai acheté un kit comprenant plusieurs perles et composants en céramique sur un thème plutôt marin de Firefly Design Studio, il y avait également un connecteur assorti de Cory Tompkins. J'ai choisi la version beige plutôt que bleue, étonnant non?
Avec ceci il fallait faire un collier, un bracelet et une paire de boucles d'oreilles.
Je n'ai ajouté que des pierres et un fermoir de THEA Elements.
Les voici donc,

A new challenge, this time hosted by Firefly Design Studio. I bought a kit with several   ceramic sea themed beads and components from Firefly Design Studio and an assorted polymer connector by Cory Tompkins. I chose the sandy brown version over the blue one, how surprising is that?
Next, we had to create a pair  of earrings, a bracelet and a necklace.
I only added different stones and a THEA Elements clasp.

Mais je me suis inscrite à la dernière minute à un challenge "Creating with cabochons" organisé par The Studio Sublime.

 Il s'agit de créer un bijou à partir de cabochons qui sera présenté le 18 septembre sur le blog. Il ne me reste plus qu'à réfléchir, car je ne retrouverai mes cabochons qu'à partir du 10 août! 

Je vais peut-être apprendre à penser un bijou...

En attendant je n'ai pas réussi à coller la bannière du challenge sur mon blog.

L'informatique...

So, no time for beads. 

But I decided to participate in the Creating with cabochons challenge organised by The Studio Sublime. The reveal date is September 18th.

Now I'm left to think as I won't go back to my cabochons before August 10th!

Maybe I'll learn to plan a piece of jewelry...

What I didn't manage to do was add the challenge banner to my blog.
