Hidden Cove Reveal

Once again I didn't resist to one of Andrew Thornton's challenges and bought the Hidden Cove kit. Once again I received a huge number of beads and  in colors I'm not really familiar with, blues and sands, but that I wanted to experiment working with.
Once again I forgot to take pictures of the beads before.
When I saw Andrew's special component, I knew I wanted to make a short and heavy necklace to surround this beautiful mermaid. I imagined an embroidered collar or a multi strand necklace.
Finally I only embroidered the pendant and used the bigger beads for the chain.

And as I had a lot of beads left over, I made some earrings too.

Pendentifs / Pendants, Scorched Earth

Now I'm going to work on the next challenge, Grasslands. The reveal date is on May 12.

  1. I love the color indigo so I gravitate towards anything in that colour. But this necklace is beyond beautiful. Its perfect to be worn with a white cotton tunic in this scorching hot weather

  2. I love your necklace! I like how the beads around the pendant are fanning out like the mermaids hair. Lovely. I think your also found the perfect beads to go with those great blue beads from the kit in your earrings!

  7. Amazing bead embroidery! My favorite bead from the kit that you used is the big faceted one next to the focal. Love it!

  8. That should have been a period and not a question mark.

  9. Karin - Your necklace is wonderful! I love how you combined all the different bead types - the blue nuggets and sand-colored beads, all pulled together with the embroidery treatment on the mystery component. I didn't use the mystery component because I couldn't see the colors but you have pulled them together perfectly!

  11. So luscious! Great job! I love how you've created the visual weight in the necklace and really complimented the focal. For not being familiar with some of the colors, you've really done an amazing job and one would think you worked with this combo all the time! Great job! And thank you so much for participating!
