I'm a little late for this week's  asymmetry assignment for The Alchemy of Objects.
As I don't have many found objects as Deryn Mentock uses, I used my favorite art beads.
Ceramics from Something to do beads and Mary Harding's gorgeous pendant as well as some glass beads from Caroline Bead Bug, Glass Bead Art and Lorna Johnston.
Some linen, chain and silk later, there it is.

Then, following advice from Deryn I made some changes, I don't know yet if they make a difference but I think they do give some more  unity to the necklace.

  1. I love it! The bird tassel is so sweet. I don't remember you buying those verdigris lanterns!

  3. I love the gorgeous tassle. Your stationery items are a good starting point for found objects - the conical ends of ball point or gel pens can be used as bead caps, wooden rulers can be cut up and wrapped. You could glue printed images/paper underneath clear scales and use them as focals or pendants. You can also use old bangles, watch faces, rocks or twigs. You can look at this blog called Michlinla by Michelle, she is the queen of upcycle and has the most fabulous ideas

  4. What a beautiful necklace Karin!!! Love the subtle muted palatte of beige and oranges. I am thrilled that my long hollow bead has found its home here. Looks just perfect in its place of honor.!!

  5. I love the beautiful array of pinks, some warm, some cool, and how they all work with the orange and that dash of green. I do like the change of chain in your second variation.

  7. This is gorgeous. I don't remember seeing it at the time, but Mary Harding just posted it on Art Bead Scene, and it led me here. Fabulous work.
