Lecture / Reading

Besides beads, work, family and other things, I read.
And same as for beads, I love discovering new authors.
So when Andrew Thornton from The Writing and Art of Andrew Thornton created Inspired by reading, where he associated books and beads I was really tempted but did not dare jump in. I had just started this blog and I didn't really know where I was going in terms of beading.
I followed and admired the creations of those who participated and often wondered how to put all the reading impressions into beading.
This month I decided to jump in.
The book: An Irish Country Doctor by Patrick Taylor. The story of a young doctor settling in Northern Ireland. It was a very pleasant read, but how was I going to translate that into beads. So I first used the colors, greens, browns and copper. Colors usually associated to Ireland and maybe to the cover. Then I tried to show the relationships, the intermingling paths of the characters as well as real roads and paths often mentioned, so I wove a rope. Finally I used a ceramic script bead to refer to literature and speech so present in the book.
Well I've tried to explain all this but I'd rather show you the necklace, because I have a hard time explaining why I loved reading this novel.

Pendentif / Pendant: Round Rabbit
Perles de verre / Glass beads: Glass Bead Art
Perle céramique / Ceramic bead: Moriah Betterly
Charm: Kristi Bowman

  1. What an amazing necklace! It really captures the beauty and intricacies of the book! I just joined the group too and it is really fun to see how we all create different pieces, even though we read the same thing! Thanks for following my blog too. You create the most amazing pieces-can't wait to see what you do for the next book!
